Trinidadian pothound for sale!
Posted by: georgiap.

No, not the critter in the photo. That’s Nettie, a pothound who was found languishing on the beach in the fishing village of Las Cuevas a few weeks ago, and who has since moved on to what looks like a pretty cushy life in New York City. (I don’t want to tell you how long I’ve been hounding the housemate about buying me one of those stuffed monkeys.) You can view more photos of the lucky little bastard here.

So, as you’ve probably worked out by now, the individual up for grabs is me. As Cole Porter would say, I’m “only slightly soiled“, and talented too! I can sing, use a computer, swim, and can even be considered something of a minor celebrity in some circles since I’m a recurring character on my housemate’s podcast, Caribbean Free Radio. People send e-mails asking after me. And it would be no problem for me to be a character in your podcast too.

While I’m not entirely deficient in the charm department, I’m not what you’d call a “people person” (hey, I’m not even a person!), but I’m sure there are therapists in New York who can straighten out a type like me in no time. And note that I say “New York”: I’m looking to relocate to a major city; people living in provincial backwaters need not apply.

Should probably also mention that there is already somebody who sort of thinks she’s my owner, so let’s handle this one carefully, eh.

Email me for further details.

The housemate gets interviewed

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

Listen to the housemate being interviewed about her podcast Caribbean Free Radio and other matters–and talking a mile a minute, as usual–on the very cool Small World Podcast, whose host, Bazooka Joe, kindly invited her to be a guest on his show.

At one point they try to rope me into the conversation, but I wasn’t having it. When Bazooka Joe wishes to speak with me directly he knows where to find me.

Caribbean Free Radio - new podcast

Tuesday, April 12th, 2005

OK, this podcasting thing looks like it might finally be paying dividends in Delphine-ville. Seems the housemate is negotiating a guest spot for me on 3Canal’s 2006 CD!

Wanted: Dogs Who Sing

Wednesday, April 6th, 2005

Are you a dog who sings? I am. Listen to me here.

I’m curious to know how many others like me there are out there, and what instruments turn you on (for me it’s the harmonica and the melodica).

The voice in the background–OK, foreground–is the housemate, trying to take ownership of this thing, as usual.

Marley was dead: to begin with

Saturday, April 2nd, 2005

The BBC tried to book an interview with Bob Marley!. (Though the unfortunate incident took place on April 1, it was, apparently, not an April Fool’s gag.) Thanks to Boing Boing for the link, and C. Dickens for the headline.

Godshow misses the point

Friday, April 1st, 2005

Like most of my species, I’m a pantheist. (As the calypsonian The Mighty Shadow once sang “I believe in the stars and the dark night/I believe in the sun and the daylight/I believe in the little children/I believe in life and its problems”.) So I’m with the housemate on the issue of Godshow, priest/podcaster Fr. Roderick Vonhogen’s answer to Adam Curry’s much criticised PodShow. Here’s the comment the housemate left on AC’s web site earlier this afternoon:

If Godshow isn’t an April Fool’s prank–and I don’t think it is–then I’m deeply disappointed in Fr. Roderick. I’m not Catholic or “religious” in the conventional sense, but I do listen to his podcasts and have in fact been impressed with the way he engages the world. Godshow’s aim of ghettoizing religious podcasts in order to keep them away from the so-called taint of podcasts like Dawn and DrewYeast Radio does not seem to me to be a solution. Jesus consorted with lepers and prostitutes, didn’t he? If the devout are to save the world, I think they should at least keep abreast of what’s in it, no?

(Update: Godshow was a prank!)
