Who is this bitch called Delphine?

Delphine (Boxing Day, 2005)

I am a dog living in Trinidad and Tobago. Technically I’m a mongrel (or “pothound”, as they say in these parts), but I have been mistaken for a Jack Russell, and more than one person has told me I’m a dead ringer for Nipper, of RCA “His Master’s Voice” fame, who was part Bull Terrier and part Fox Terrier.

I was born in a mechanic’s garage and had a pretty difficult early life. My mother was a scruffy brown pothound; I never knew my father (but I’m sure you guessed I was going to say that). In the first nine months of my life I was forced to endure lots of axel grease, foul language, and car parts thrown at me. On the plus side, however, I can dismantle a carburettor in five minutes. Then I was rescued by some people and brought to live in an idyllic suburban setting. Next thing I knew, I had my own bed, two meals a day, and access to a Macintosh computer, which I shall be using to compose this blog.

Some people would describe me as aloof and it’s been said that, temperamentally speaking, I’m more like a cat than a dog, though I refuse to dignify that kind of species-centric commentary with a response.
